Offline app for electromechanical solutions

A US company that needed a deep change in its system.

Using the tool was not possible in locations without access to computers and the internet, which limited its use in the daily work of field professionals.

Context

This project was done for an American technology company that develops digital solutions to increase efficiency and productivity in the electromechanical industry. Among its products is a web tool used by technical professionals to perform checks, record data, and track information related to process quality.

Since these professionals often work in locations without access to computers or the internet, the need arose to take the solution to a mobile environment, allowing data to be recorded even offline and synced later when the connection was restored.

Approach

The project involved creating a mobile version of the existing solution, covering iOS and Android users and adapting the experience to different usage contexts.

Since the product already had a web version and very specific technical requirements, I started by seeking to better understand users' needs. I conducted interviews with company professionals who had direct contact with end users, using these insights to identify opportunities for improving the experience.

From this understanding, I worked on structuring the mobile experience, usability improvements, and interface definition, seeking to make the interaction simpler, clearer, and suited to the difficult usage context of the users.

Development happened collaboratively and iteratively, with product evolution tracked through Figma, Jira, and periodic presentations, allowing solutions to be reviewed and adjustments to be made throughout the process.

Outcome

The app was launched in January 2023 and, in the first months of use, users highlighted the solution as faster, cleaner, and with a more intuitive interface, making daily work more productive.

In addition to enabling the use of the tool in environments without internet connection, the project expanded the existing solution to a new usage context and created a mobile experience more suited to the needs of field professionals.

What we delivered

The main project deliverables were:

Insight

The challenge was not to reproduce the web version on mobile, but to adapt the experience to the real context of use: in the field, with little time, and without connection.

From web to field

Screens were organized to make information recording simple even in adverse usage conditions.
