Product Case

Communication and autonomy

One-on-one conversations with support and guidance so designers could lead their own discovery and delivery cycles — and gain a voice with stakeholders.

Autonomy is not giving space and disappearing. It is staying close until the person trusts their own voice.

Context

Talented designers struggled when presenting decisions, defending research, or negotiating scope. Dependence on leadership in every feedback round limited their growth — and the team's.

Approach

I structured individual development tracks with clear goals, stakeholder storytelling practice, discovery reviews, and active presence in product meetings. The 1:1s became a safe space to experiment with different ways of communicating.

Outcome

Designers began leading presentations, defending their hypotheses, and running cross-functional conversations. Leadership stopped being a bottleneck — and recognition came through internal promotions and feedback from other areas.
